It's hard to believe the 2017 wedding season is at a close, and 2018 will be here in a few weeks! Our team finally took a few days to relax, and now we're focusing on all of the upcoming 2018 weddings on our calendar. I wanted to recap a few of the weddings we were able to design this season, and today, we're showcasing Maddie + Jimmy, a super-sweet couple [just wait until you see their first look photos!]
Maddie + Jimmy’s relationship is full of young love that began with a pretty humorous start. High school gym class bleachers set the stage for their first meeting, where Maddie saw Jimmy having a conversation with a friend; she overheard some of their discussion and launched right in to say she disagreed with Jimmy's perspective on the matter. "I can't even remember what the opinion was anymore. From there we were just friends for a few months, and then he finally asked me out!"
Maddie + Jimmy's engagement lasted around a year and a half, and they initially started their wedding planning by searching for a venue. They looked at a few places but finally settled on this historical place -- if you're from the York area, you probably recognize it!
**Side Note: HOW CUTE IS THIS FIRST LOOK. Savannah Smith Photography rocks! She captured this moment perfectly!**
Once Maddie + Jimmy visited Historic Shady Lane, they were sold on the laid-back quality of the estate along with the stone outcroppings and charm. As soon as Jimmy proposed, Maddie knew exactly what colors she wanted for the wedding: gold, blush, dusty blue and burgundy.
Using a variety of flowers, we wove in some fall flair since the wedding was right on the cusp of the transition from summer to autumn. I included Juliet Garden Roses, Dahlias (Maddie's request -- a girl after my own heart. We are so excited to plant more dahlias for the 2018 season!), in addition to a zesty combination of wheat, stock, dusty miller, seeded eucalyptus, and eryngium to create a look matching the couple’s wedding aesthetic.
Maddie + Jimmy's favorite parts of the day were seeing all of their friends and family together in one area, all having a great time and dancing the night away. The couple really basked in the quiet moments of their first look; Maddie says she and Jimmy cherish those moments dearly.
We incorporated a small hanging installation behind the head table, which Maddie loved! It added just enough to bring in a pop of color. For the reception tables, we kept them clean with neutral hues, hints of berry-tones, and green accents. Check it out below!
I loved reliving Maddie + Jimmy's wedding day, and I hope you did, too! Check out their vendor list below - everyone was wonderful to work with!
